Quicksilver was created in the late 1980s when a Pittsburgh businessman bought the older Fallen Timber Golf Course and rebuilt it, redoing the greens, adding mounds and bunkers, and building a new clubhouse. It hosted the Ben Hogan Tour's Quicksilver Open from 1990 to 1992 and the Champions Tour's Quicksilver Classic from 1993 to 1997.
