River Bend Resort & Golf Club sits along the Rio Grande off US Highway 281 in Brownsville. It began as a 9-hole course in 1983 and was expanded to an 18-hole championship layout in 1985. The Rio Grande runs along holes 5 through 13, forming what the resort describes as one of the longest water hazards in Texas. The Barnard family purchased the property in 2015, and it operates as a resort with memberships, public play and RV "Stay & Play" lots.
