Why we love this place
We love Samoset for that rare New England feeling where the Atlantic is genuinely in play. Salt air, granite seawalls, and holes hanging over Penobscot Bay make every round feel like an occasion. It is coastal Maine golf at its most memorable, and worth the trip up.

About Samoset Resort Golf Course
Golf at the Samoset traces back to 1902, when a nine-hole layout was laid out on the resort grounds along Penobscot Bay; the course marked its centennial in 2002. Architect Robert Elder rebuilt it into a full eighteen-hole championship course in 1974, and later refinements followed: Jeffrey Cornish reworked several holes in the early 1990s, and Maine architect Bradley Booth redesigned holes 4, 5, 14 and 18 and added the practice area around 2000. Set on a rocky peninsula with a granite seawall separating fairways from the Atlantic, its sweeping oceanfront holes earned it the nickname the 'Pebble Beach of the East.' The layout has hosted regional events including a New England PGA Section Championship and served as a former Nike Tour qualifying site.
