About Sweetwater Country Club

In 1933 C. G. Fuller and Senator Edgar Brown picked the site. Fuller bought it and donated it to Barnwell County for a public nine-hole course, built with WPA labor; the name comes from the taste of the local springs. A second nine designed by Russell Breeden opened in 1977, and the greens were converted to Mini-Verde Bermuda in 2008.
