The Cascades Country Club is a private 18-hole course on the shores of Lake Bellwood near Tyler, originally opened in 1956 as Briarwood (built by a group of WWII veterans). A multi-million-dollar restoration overseen by PGA Tour player Mark Hayes (with architect Lee Singletary) was completed around 2002-2004. It plays roughly 7,142 yards to par 71 and is regarded as one of the finest clubs in East Texas, having hosted the Texas State Open.
