Tidewater Golf Club

Tidewater is the singular design of Ken Tomlinson, a Columbia, South Carolina attorney and passionate amateur who spent years shaping the property himself rather than as a career architect. Construction was interrupted when Hurricane Hugo struck in 1989, pushing the opening to 1990. The course occupies a dramatic peninsula between the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove inlet, routing holes across salt marsh, hardwood forest, and elevated corridors with sweeping Atlantic and marsh vistas rare for the Grand Strand. The par-72 layout stretches beyond 7,000 yards. Its debut earned unusual acclaim: both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine named Tidewater the best new public course in America for 1990, a distinction that cemented its reputation as one of Myrtle Beach's most scenic and respected championship venues.
