Tour 18 Houston

Tour 18 Houston opened in November 1992 in Humble, just north of the city, as America's first replica golf course. The idea came from local partners led by Dennis Wilkerson, who set out to recreate eighteen of the country's most famous holes on a single public layout; architect David Edsall handled the design after the group studied the originals in person. Players find copies of Augusta National's Amen Corner, an island-green par three modeled on TPC Sawgrass's 17th, and holes echoing Harbour Town, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst and others. The concept was bold enough to draw lawsuits from some of the courses being imitated, but Tour 18 survived the challenges, inspired a sister course near Dallas, and remains a popular novelty round in the Houston area.
