Trophy Club is home to Ben Hogan's only golf course design, created with architect Joe Lee. Hogan and a Fort Worth law firm began acquiring 2,500 acres in 1972, and the club was named for the plan to house Hogan's trophy collection; Hogan withdrew after financing for his two-story clubhouse fell through. The Hogan course opened in 1976, and ClubCorp later added holes to create two 18s.
