About University of New Mexico North Golf Course

The North Course dates to 1942 and was originally a large layout measuring 7,300 yards from the championship tees; UNM says it was the first course in America to break the 7,000-yard barrier. It hosted Albuquerque's first professional tournament in 1947, won by Lloyd Mangrum, and the 1950 NCAA Championships, won by Fred Wampler. Today it is a nine-hole, 3,333-yard public course, credited to William H. Tucker with a 2014 renovation by Andy Staples.
