About Championship Gc

The University of New Mexico Championship Course officially opened in 1967, designed in 1966 by Robert "Red" Lawrence with William H. Tucker. UNM says longtime men's golf coach Dick McGuire persuaded the university to build a new 18-hole course rather than expand the North Course. It plays to 7,555 yards at par 72 and has hosted the NCAA Division I Men's Championships (1976, 1992, 1998) and Women's Championships (1987, 2008), plus the long-running William H. Tucker Invitational. It is open to the public.
