About Wenham Country Club
Around the turn of the 20th century, several teenage caddies from the nearby Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton wanted a place of their own to play, and construction began on Tarr's Pasture in 1899 for a nine-hole course. The club officially opened in the summer of 1899, open to townsfolk who paid annual dues of one dollar. About twenty-five years later a back nine was leased and built, and it is today a semi-private 18-hole course; no professional architect is named for the original layout.
