Widow's Walk opened in 1997 as America's first environmental demonstration golf course, built on the former site of a sand and gravel operation in Scituate. Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, the municipal course was created to showcase environmentally responsible design and maintenance and is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. It remains a public course owned by the Town of Scituate.
