About Abilene Country Club
Abilene Country Club is the city's oldest golf club, founded in 1921, with its original course opening in 1923. The club today operates two 18-hole courses: the North (originally the "Club Course") and the South (the former Fairway Oaks course), which merged into Abilene Country Club. Fairway Oaks hosted the PGA Tour's Southwest Golf Classic from 1981 to 1988. Abilene-area professionals associated with the club include Charles Coody, Tommy Bolt and Bob Estes.
