Claremont Country Club

Est. 1917
Why we love this place

Claremont is a classic small-city nine where the Sugar River Valley does the decorating. Short on paper and sneaky on the greens, it is the kind of friendly, no-fuss club where you can show up and play a quick, scenic round.

About Claremont Country Club

Claremont Country Club has offered golf above the city of Claremont since about 1917, the build year recorded by GolfPass; the club's early history is not well documented online. The course is a compact nine-hole layout at 53 Country Club Road, playing to par 34 from the men's tees and par 36 from the forward tees. From almost every hole, golfers look out over the Sugar River Valley and the city below. The club describes the layout as deceptively easy, with challenging greens that defend par far better than the yardage suggests. Governed by a club board, it operates as a public-access club with memberships, leagues and programs, events and a function space for rent, and walking is allowed. The club reports that the course was significantly improved for the 2026 season, continuing more than a century of community golf in Sullivan County.
