About Cleveland Heights Golf Course - B/A

Cleveland Heights opened in 1925 as the centerpiece of developer H.A. Stahl's Cleveland Heights community on Lake Hollingsworth, designed by the firm of Howard Toomey and William Flynn. In 1932, during the Depression, the City of Lakeland took over the course in exchange for canceling Stahl's $300,000 debt, and it has been municipal since. A 1977 land purchase expanded it to 27 holes (Azalea, Bougainvillea and Camellia nines); sixteen of the original eighteen holes remain, and the course marked its centennial in 2025.
