Coeur d'Alene Golf Club

Opened in 1991 on the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene, this resort course was designed by Phoenix architect Scott Miller and conceived by resort co-founders Duane Hagadone and Jerry Jaeger. The site required extensive cleanup of debris left from the region's lumber era, and construction ran through 1989 and 1990 before the first balls were struck in 1991. The course is defined by its par-3 14th, billed as the world's only movable floating island green: a landscaped putting surface anchored offshore and repositioned each day via a computerized underwater cable system, so the hole plays anywhere from roughly 90 to 220 yards. Players reach it by boat shuttle. Beyond the signature hole, Miller shaped a manicured, park-like layout with bentgrass tees, fairways and greens, playing to a par of 71 along the lake and through evergreen forest.
