Est. 2001 · Scott Miller (Cholla); Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw (Saguaro)
Why we love this place
We love We-Ko-Pa because it's golf stripped to what matters: no houses, no distractions, just desert, mountains and two very different masterpieces. Cholla asks you to fly the trouble; Saguaro invites you to walk and roll it along the ground. It's exactly the kind of honest, wide-open place we'd send any grassroots player.

About We-Ko-Pa Golf Club
We-Ko-Pa sits on tribal land owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and its name means four peaks in the Yavapai language. The club opened its first 18, the Cholla Course, in December 2001, designed by Scottsdale architect Scott Miller, a former Jack Nicklaus design associate. Cholla is classic target-style desert golf, routed across rolling high-desert terrain with long views and no surrounding real estate. In 2006 the club added the Saguaro Course from the celebrated team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, built as a firm, walkable, ground-game layout that hugs the natural contours with tees close to greens. The contrast between the two, aerial desert target golf versus minimalist walking golf, is a large part of the club's reputation. Free of adjacent housing and backed by mountain scenery, both courses are consistently ranked among the best public-access golf in Arizona and the wider Southwest.
