Why we love this place

Three U.S. Opens outside D.C. — Venturi's heat-stricken 1964 win and McIlroy's record-shattering first major in 2011.

About Congressional Country Club

The Blue Course has hosted three U.S. Opens (1964, 1997, 2011), the 1976 PGA Championship, and the 2022 KPMG Women's PGA. Ken Venturi's 1964 win came amid brutal heat that nearly caused him to collapse; in 2011 a 22-year-old Rory McIlroy won his first major at a record 16-under, by eight shots.
