The club traces to a 1969 land conveyance from the Roosevelt estate requiring a golf course; the first nine opened in 1971 as Pine Knoll Shores Golf and Country Club, designed by Maurice Brackett — the only 18-hole course on Bogue Banks. After a 2018 hurricane it was bought by new owners and fully renovated, and it operates as semi-private, open to members and the public.
