Deerwood Country Club was established in 1960, its course originally designed by George Cobb, architect of Augusta National's Par-3 Course. It hosted the Greater Jacksonville Open, a forerunner of The Players Championship, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and was comprehensively redesigned by Brian Silva in 2004.
