About Detwiler Golf Course

Detwiler is the City of Toledo's third municipal course. Toledo native Arthur Hills designed it early in his career, and it opened around 1971–72 (sources differ). It sits on about 177 acres north of downtown where the Maumee River meets Maumee Bay, next to Bayview Park and near the Toledo Harbor lighthouse, which gives it a lakeside feel unusual for a city course. It's a par 71 known for long par 3s, some over 200 yards. Hills, who grew up near Ottawa Park, became one of the most prolific American architects of his era.
