Eagle Glen was financed by its community: a local Founders Club sold equity shares to 176 stockholders to build an 18-hole course and 28 home lots on 188 acres of farmland. The group chose Jerry Matthews' firm from five candidates, and work began in fall 1989. The name, chosen in a community contest, refers to the Farwell Eagles, whose high school is across the street. Directories list 1992 as the opening year.
