About El Conquistador Golf

El Conquistador Golf is a rare town-owned club in the Tucson suburbs. Its desert layouts beneath the Santa Catalinas, credited to architects Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin, date to the 1980s resort and country-club era. In December 2014 the Oro Valley Town Council voted 4-3 to buy the El Conquistador Country Club and its courses for $1 million to create a public community center, a deal that sparked a recall drive. In 2019 the council voted 6-1 to keep the town's 36 holes open.
