Est. 2001 · Barry Jordan
Why we love this place
A short course with a big mission: teaching kids golf and character on the same nine holes. We love Butternut Creek for its approachable par-3 layout, its welcoming public tee sheet and knowing that every round helps support First Tee's youth programs in Central New York.

About First Tee Syracuse Golf Complex at Butternut Creek
The First Tee Syracuse Golf Complex at Butternut Creek occupies a nine-hole course on Jamesville Road in the Town of DeWitt, just southeast of Syracuse. The par-27 layout of about 1,365 yards was designed by Barry Jordan and dates to around 2001. In early 2016 the First Tee of Syracuse, then nine years old, bought the course to serve as its permanent home while keeping it open for public play. The nonprofit planned to renovate the clubhouse with a pro shop, a lounge and three classrooms for its core-values instruction, to upgrade the course, and to add a practice green and grass practice tee built by the Central New York Golf Course Superintendents Association. After a major gift later that year, the complex was named for the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
