About Goodwin Golf Course

Golf at Goodwin Park, an Olmsted-firm park that opened to the public in 1901, began with a nine-hole course laid out in 1906; a second nine followed in 1911, and in 1927 a 37-acre addition brought nine more holes. For years it was Hartford's only public course, and crowding there spurred the building of Keney Park. Later WPA work improved it further. After a period of decline the city partnered with the Connecticut Section PGA and Knox Inc. to restore it, and today it is a 27-hole municipal facility: a par-70 championship 18 plus the nine-hole North course.
