Great River Golf Club

Great River Golf Club opened in 1999 on a mile-and-a-half stretch of rolling land beside the Housatonic River in Milford, Connecticut. Designed by Tommy Fazio (Tom Fazio II), the layout unfolds as two contrasting nines: a front side that threads through low tidal wetlands and a links-inspired back nine that climbs to elevated ground overlooking the river. Stretching past 7,000 yards from the championship tees at a par of 72, it earned quick acclaim as one of the state's premier public tests and has been ranked among Connecticut's best by national outlets. In 2015 Sacred Heart University purchased the club, making it the home of its Division I men's and women's golf programs while keeping the course open for daily-fee play. The mix of water, wetlands, and elevation gives every round genuine variety.
