Gulf Shores Golf Club, designed by Earl Stone in the 1960s, was the first golf course in Gulf Shores and was previously known as the Golf Club of The Wharf. It closed in November 2005 for a complete renovation guided by Jay and Carter Morrish, which lengthened the par-71 course by 300 yards and added water features, bulkheads, doglegs and bunkers.
