About Houndslake Country Club

Houndslake Country Club is a private 27-hole club in Aiken, SC, designed by architect Joe Lee and opened in 1974, with its formal opening gala held April 4, 1975. The land -- a roughly 1,900-acre pineland tract about five miles south of downtown Aiken -- was acquired in the early 1960s by local attorney Dorsey Lybrand and Robert Penland. The 27 holes are configured as three nines (Azalea, Dogwood and Laurel) that combine into multiple 18-hole routings reaching about 6,900 yards. The club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024-2025.
