Kilmarlic opened in November 2002 on 605 acres of maritime forest and wetlands overlooking the Albemarle Sound, on the mainland side of the Outer Banks. Tom Steele designed it. It hosted the North Carolina Open in 2004 and 2009, and Golfweek ranked it 14th among North Carolina's courses you can play in 2013. It's open to public play.
