About Laurel Valley Golf Club
Laurel Valley Golf Club opened in 1959 in the Ligonier Valley of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, with local hero Arnold Palmer among its co-founders. Dick Wilson designed the original course, set against the Laurel Highlands, and it was refined over the years, including work associated with Palmer and Ed Seay in 1988. The club quickly earned national stature as a championship venue. It hosted the 1965 PGA Championship, won by Dave Marr, and the 1975 Ryder Cup, a United States victory captained by Arnold Palmer on his home course. Later high-profile events included the 1989 U.S. Senior Open and the 2005 Senior PGA Championship, reinforcing the club's reputation for hosting elite competition. A private club deeply tied to Palmer's legacy, Laurel Valley pairs a demanding parkland layout with a rich tournament history.
