About Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge
Bay Hill's 18 holes opened in 1961, built by Nashville investors who commissioned architect Dick Wilson. Arnold Palmer first played it in a 1965 exhibition, began operating it in the early 1970s and bought the club in 1976, making it his winter home. It has hosted a PGA Tour event since 1979, now the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and has been renovated several times under Palmer's direction. It is a members' club that non-members play through the on-site lodge.
