Mauna Lani Golf

Mauna Lani sits on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii Island, where its courses were carved across the prehistoric Kaniku lava flow. The original South Course opened in 1981, designed by Homer Flint with later reshaping by architect Robin Nelson, and a North Course followed in 1991. Fairways of vivid green thread through jagged black a'a lava, framed by ocean and mountain views. The South Course's par-3 15th is the signature moment, playing over a Pacific inlet to a green set on the lava shoreline and counted among the most photographed holes in golf. From 1990 through 2000 the resort hosted the Senior Skins Game, bringing legends of the senior game to the black-rock coastline each spring. Today it also stages the Hawaii State Open.
