Melody Hill was developed by Charlie and Marion Mandeville, who had run the small Stillwater course until Route 295 displaced it. The first nine of the Sam Mitchell design opened in 1967 and the second nine followed in 1976; Marion ran the course for decades after Charlie's death. In 2017 she sold the 131-acre property to the Hoening family's Tri-State Golf Company, owners of Raceway Golf Club in Thompson, Connecticut.
