Mines Golf Club opened in August 2005 with 18 holes and a full practice facility, designed by Mike DeVries for developer Dan Schimmel. The course sits about 150 feet above gypsum mines worked as early as the 1860s, which gave it its name. A public-access course, it was ranked among Golf Digest's Best New Public Courses in 2006.
