Pilgrim's Run, a public course in Pierson about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids, opened for play in 1997. It was a committee design: the course superintendent drew the routing, six people invited by the developer each designed three holes, and architect Mike DeVries designed the greens and bunkers and consulted on construction. Golf Digest named it one of the Best New Affordable Courses of 1999.
