About Mountain Aire Golf Course

Mountain Aire traces to 1949, when a local farmer built a rudimentary course in West Jefferson (originally West Jefferson Golf Course). Casual golfer Carl Hagel bought it in 1971 and it has stayed in the Hagel family since; in 1985 his son Mark expanded it to 18 holes using designer Dennis Lehman, with further revisions in 1998. It is a public Blue Ridge mountain course, reportedly the third-oldest in the High Country behind Linville and Blowing Rock.
