Native Oaks opened in 2004 as Woods Valley Golf Club in Valley Center, north of San Diego, designed by Dave Ginkel. It has been owned since 2013 by the San Pasqual Economic Development Corporation, an entity of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. In March 2021 the club was renamed Native Oaks, with names reflecting the community's traditions, including Shawii Kitchen for the restaurant.
