There is something special about walking the oldest surviving ground at a club this decorated. Plainfield West is the humble, welcoming nine that shares a fence line with championship history, and we love that everyday golfers can still tee it up where it all began.

About Plainfield West
Plainfield Country Club grew from the Hillside Tennis Club, founded in 1890, with golf arriving in 1898 on a course laid out by Scottish-born architect Tom Bendelow. The nine that survives today as Plainfield West is the last remaining stretch of that original Bendelow ground, now run as a semi-private nine open to public play. The club's celebrated championship eighteen came later, when Donald Ross reworked and expanded the property into a full course brought into play in 1921. That Ross layout has hosted major championship golf, including the 1978 U.S. Amateur, the 1987 U.S. Women's Open, and PGA Tour playoff events in 2011 and 2015. The West nine offers an approachable, historic taste of one of New Jersey's storied golf addresses.
