About Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club

Scottish-born architect Tom Bendelow came from Chicago in 1921 to survey the Temple Terrace property along the Hillsborough River. The first nine opened in 1922 and the full 18 in 1923, making Temple Terrace one of the first communities in the nation designed around a golf course. It hosted the first Florida Open in 1925 with a then-record $5,000 purse, and the course was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. Once private, it is now open to the public.
