Why we love this place: a true college home course with real tournament pedigree, tucked into Iowa City's hills. We're especially excited to see what Scott Hoffman's reimagination brings when the gates reopen. Hawkeye golf has always felt like the heart of the game here.

About Finkbine Golf Course
Golf at Finkbine began in 1924, when William Orlando and Edward Charles Finkbine donated farmland to the University of Iowa honoring their father, Robert Finkbine; that first course was laid out by Tom Bendelow. After World War II, campus growth forced a move, and architect Robert Bruce Harris designed the present par-72 course, which opened in July 1955 among Iowa City's rolling hills. Now the home of Hawkeye golf, Finkbine has hosted the PGA Amana VIP Pro-Am for more than two decades, the 1991 Ben Hogan Tour Hawkeye Open, and the 1992 and 2002 Big Ten Championships. A 2003 renovation brought bentgrass fairways. In November 2025 the course closed for a full 'reimagination' by architect Scott Hoffman, with reopening targeted for 2027.
