The Country Club of Florida opened December 1, 1956 on 160 acres of the former Hunt Dairy Farm, developed by Carleton Blunt with the course designed by Chicago architect Robert Bruce Harris. The surrounding community was incorporated as the Village of Golf by a special act of the Florida legislature in 1957. The members-only course was remodeled by Arthur Hills in 1987 and redesigned by Lester George in 2006.
