Wayzata Country Club

Wayzata Country Club sits near the shore of Lake Minnetonka west of Minneapolis, where members founded a new club in the mid-1950s and hired prominent Illinois architect Robert Bruce Harris to design the course, which opened around 1956. Harris was known for a maintenance-minded style featuring large, rounded greens and generous bunkers set away from the putting surfaces so gang mowers could pass between them. The result is a spacious parkland layout that suits everyday member play while still testing stronger golfers. In 2008, architect John Fought modernized the course, reworking tees, fairways and bunkering to sharpen the challenge and refresh its look. Measuring north of 7,000 yards from the tips at par 72 and complemented by a short course and strong practice facility, Wayzata remains a well-kept private club in Minnesota's golf-rich western suburbs.
