River Ridge Golf Course

Est. 1999
Why we love this place

River Ridge is a hilltop thrill ride in southeastern Connecticut. Start among old orchard ground, then climb into wooded hills, drop a short iron 70 feet down at the sixth, and grind up the 18th. Big views, honest value and a test worth the drive from Norwich or Mystic.

About River Ridge Golf Course

River Ridge Golf Course opened in May 1999 on hilltop land along Preston Road in Griswold, in the Jewett City area of southeastern Connecticut. Its first three holes occupy open ground that was once an apple orchard, while the remaining fifteen roll over wooded hills with long New England views. The par-72 championship layout measures about 6,700 yards from the back tees and was built with tee-to-green irrigation. Highlights include the sixth, a par 3 that drops roughly 70 feet from tee to green, the memorable par-5 fifteenth, and an uphill par-4 finishing hole. The course's own materials do not name an architect. River Ridge bills itself as one of southeastern Connecticut's most challenging public 18-hole courses, and it pairs the golf with a restaurant, outing packages and weekday specials.
