About Rock Creek Park Public Golf Course

Rock Creek Park Golf Course was laid out by William S. Flynn for the federal Office of Public Buildings and Grounds; its first nine opened May 23, 1923, with President Warren G. Harding on hand. Demand pushed an 18-hole Flynn re-routing by about 1926, and Military Road's widening in the late 1950s forced front-nine changes by William F. Gordon. Listed in 1991 within the Rock Creek Park Historic District, it was leased to nonprofit National Links Trust in 2020; that lease was ended in late 2025, with a new agreement reported in 2026.
