Sebring Municipal Golf Course dates to 1924, when the City of Sebring appropriated funds and chose 160 acres on the south side of Lake Jackson. City planner A.D. Taylor hired golf architect William Herbert 'Bert' Way to lay out the course. Mayor William Parrish hit the first ball to open the grass-green nine on February 18, 1926, and the full 18 opened in January 1929. It is on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.
