Southwyck Golf Club opened in 1988 on prairie land in Pearland, a Ken Kavanaugh design that was the Houston area's only true links-style course at the time. The public 18 reopened in summer 2002 with new fairways, tees and greens; water comes into play on 14 holes. It once served as the home course of the University of Houston golf team.
