About Spring Valley Golf Course
Spring Valley Golf Course opened in 1956 in what was then rural Milpitas. According to Golf The Bay, Ray Anderson won the Irish Sweepstakes in the early 1950s and, with local investors, used the winnings to buy the land; the 18 holes were laid out without a formal architect. The state moved to take the land by eminent domain for a proposed water reservoir, but Anderson kept control through a long-term lease. It is a public, daily-fee par-70 course of about 6,140 yards.
