About The Founders Golf Club

The Founders Club is a private club in Sarasota whose 18-hole course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., opened in 2005. The 7,094-yard layout flows across gently rolling terrain with palms, pines, nearly two dozen lakes, ancient oaks and natural wetlands, and the club was named to honor John Hamilton Gillespie, the Scotsman who founded Sarasota in the 1880s and built one of the first golf holes in the United States.
