The Golf Club of Texas opened in 2000 on San Antonio's west side as a Lee Trevino design. Playing conditions collapsed during the multi-year drought and the course closed in 2013. Rebuilding began in 2014 under architect Roy Bechtol, who lengthened it to 7,121 yards, added tees and regrassed it tee-to-green with Zoysia, making it the first all-Zoysia course in the United States when it reopened.
