Ironwood opened in May 1996, billed as the first Lee Trevino Signature course east of the Mississippi. The founders turned the club over to its membership in 2011, and Renaissance Golf Group acquired it in 2018. It operates as a semi-private course, with memberships open to the public and daily-fee guest play available.
